Every woman's birth story is personal, and Amy Schumer's is no exception. On Sunday, Schumer, 39, shared an intimate photo of herself in the nude showing off her C-section scar, a result of welcoming her son Gene into the world in May 2019. "Feeling like my c section looks cute today! #hotgirlwinter #csection," the mom of one wrote in an Instagram caption, bringing in over 415,000 likes and nearly 9,000 comments. Schumer originally tagged Dr. Hayama Brill, the New York-based ob-gyn who performed her C-section.

A candid post like this elicited tons of support, including from other celebs. "Whatever transported [Gene] on this planet is to be relished. Ps – body," author and philanthropist (and wife of Jerry) Jessica Seinfeld commented, followed by two fire emojis. "Same!!" Nina Westbrook, wife of NBA player Russell Westbrook, replied to the Instagram post in solidarity. "Amen sister! Scars are beautiful," wrote a fan in the comments, racking up over 200 likes.

Schumer elected to have a C-section at 39 weeks after she experienced complications from hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a pregnancy condition characterized by severe nausea and vomiting, Health previously reported. According to Schumer, her doctors were "amazed" that she was able to carry a baby at all given her endometriosis diagnosis, making a C-section a "no question" decision.

"I was throwing up through the first hour of my C-section. It's supposed to take about an hour and a half—mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis, and that was really scary," Schumer told the Informed Pregnancy and Parenting podcast back in 2019. She also mentioned that C-section recovery was "torture," but felt relieved that her HG symptoms subsided following Gene's birth—all the reason to feel even more proud of her C-section scar.
